What would a millionaire drive?
By Anita |
Warren Buffet made $46 million dollars last year and his net worth is $57 billion. He lives in the house he purchased 50 years ago for $31,000. He drives a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. The license plates say “thrifty.”
Stanford professor David Cheriton made his fortune with Google stock. When he doesn’t use his bike for transportation he drives around in an old Honda and old Volkswagen. He cuts his own hair and reuses his tea bags. His one indulgence: two windsurfers.
Jim Walton, the Wal-Mart heir, drives a 15-year-old pickup.
Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad drives a 15-year-old Volvo.
Indian billionaire Azim Premji drives a Toyota Corolla. He used paper plates at a lunch honoring his son’s wedding. He stays in guest houses when traveling on business instead of five star hotels.
Suddenly I’m feeling pretty good about my 11-year-old Toyota Previa minivan. It runs great, has several features that I like and, in all honesty, if I became a millionaire overnight I wouldn’t run out and buy a new van.

Good to know that the Millionaires don’t need the fastest and biggest SUV on the road to make a statement!
